This college prep biology course is designed to be a student’s first high school science course. 

It will provide an understanding of the basic biological world and of the real-world relevance of scientific inquiry. With a heavy emphasis on the vocabulary of biology, the course also presents a strong background in the scientific method. 

Lab activities will cover experimentation, microscopy, and dissection. Topics include classification, biochemistry, cellular biology, molecular and Mendelian genetics, evolution, ecosystems, microorganisms, plants, animals, and much more. 

Class activities will include lecture, microscope and dissection labs, review of the chapters, application of biological principles to life, and a few fun learning games such as Jeopardy. Students will learn the discipline of completing a neat, organized lab notebook. 

On non-class days, students will complete reading, study guides, lab drawings/reports, and tests, which will be graded by the teacher.
